  • Flange Bolts

    (0)

We offer a wide range of metal bolts and studs. What is the difference between screws and bolts?

Bolts can be described as long shafts with a distinct head on one side. These are generally partially threaded. A fully threaded bolt is referred to as a screw.

    Flange Bolts

Flange bolts, also called Hex Flange Screws, are a special type of bolt which have a flange below its head. They look like a bolt with a washer attached to the head.

The flange provides a more even distribution of the load. Flange bolts eliminate the need to use a washer giving higher flexibility in a wide range of operations.

    Standard – DIN 6921.

Materials – Mild Steel and Stainless Steel.

    Flanged Button Head 6-Lobe (TORX)

Made as per ISO 7380-2, this screw type is extremely useful to provide a low profile fixing in slotted holes and softer materials.

The Flanged head helps distribute the load over the surface.

  • Hex Self Drilling Screws

    (0)

A Self-Drilling Screw is a Self-Tapping Screw with the added feature of a drill point. The drill point looks a lot like the point of a drill. It will drill a hole and form the mating threads in one operation.

Hex Heads are available in different materials for use in a number of applications.

    1. Carbon Steel
    2. Stainless Steel AISI-304
    3. Stainless Steel AISI-316

Bi-Metal – SS-304 with Carbon Steel Drill point

Bi-Metal self-drilling tapping screws that provide the corrosion resistance of 300 series stainless steel and the efficiency of drill screws. Such screws avoid the shortcomings of each of these materials.

The whole screw is protected with a silver slide coat. This coating not only adds additional corrosion protection it also reduces the screw in resistance.

This screws can be used for up to two sheets of 1.00mm stainless steel (2.00mm total thickness). The hardened point cuts through the steel then the 304 screws are designed to last a long time without corrosion and can also be used with 316 sheet or cladding. This is a much better option than either a carbon steel screw or a 410 stainless screw that will be at risk of corrosion.

They are suitable for use in both steel and aluminum.

Self-tapping screws are different to traditional screws as they tap their own threads when screwed into either plastic, wood or metal.

  • High Strength Stainless Steel

    (0)

The special characteristic of Aerospace products include high strength and corrosion resistance.

These help to withstand high pressure (for eg, while exiting earth’s atmosphere) and higher temperature (for eg, exposure to burning rocket fuel).

High Strength Stainless Steel Fasteners: A2-80 and A4-80

A2-80 and A4-80 combine the high mechanical strength with corrosion resistance for an effective solution to many situations.

These are very useful for Aerospace applications as they allow the designer to reduce weight of the fastener for a joint.

Higher mechanical strength as compared to standard A2 / A4 is achieved through the cold-drawing process, providing a minimum Ultimate Tensile Strength of 800 MPa.

For most Aerospace, Petro-chemical and Offshore applications, SS-316 A4 is the preferred choice.

Unlike 304, 316 stainless steel has a higher nickel composition and contains a relatively high amount of molybdenum, whereas the 304 stainless steel does not contain molybdenum at all. This differences provides 316 stainless steel (or A4 stainless steel) a significantly greater corrosion resistance. This corrosion resistance specifically denotes A4 stainless steel with the ability to resist acids and salts, making it a great solution for research, chemical engineering and marine applications, amongst many others.

Designers and Engineers may find value in this extra corrosions resistance, especially if replacement or maintenance costs are relatively high, such as on tall buildings, installations that may experience any sort of salt spray or underwater applications, or simply for creating longer lasting lab or engineering equipment that may be subject to acidic or salty conditions.

Additionally if mechanical properties are also a concern for the material?

For equipment that is moving or having to withstand significant mechanical strain, then having a higher class stainless steel will also improve the life of the fastener, thereby reducing MRO costs and possible down time.

In such situations, the A4-80 range of fasteners are the best option that provides high corrosion resistance along with high mechanical strength.

  • Low Head Torx Machine Screws 6-Lobe

    (0)

The notion of a drive with hexalobular sockets are a decisive step in developing drives better adapted to manual and automated assembly. This drive is becoming increasingly popular throughout the world.

Low head socket cap screws are designed to be used in special applications where head height clearance is a problem. Because of their reduced head height and smaller socket size, they normally cannot be pre-loaded as high as a standard socket head cap screw and should not be subjected to high dynamic loads.
Suitable for use in parts too thin for standard height socket cap screw and for applications with limited clearances.

Available with Hexagonal Socket Head and 6-Lobe (ISO-14580) Socket Head for more reliability.

  • Marine Grade Fasteners

    (0)

    What are marine grade fasteners?

Marine grade fasteners refer to fasteners that have been designed specifically for the marine industry. In other words, they are entirely weather/corrosion resistant. A salt water (marine) environment is a difficult one for metals because of corrosion. On any ship, boat, or oil rig part of the hull or structure remains under water in use, while another portion is above, creating different “zones”, and different corrosion resisting solutions.

Most Stainless Steel fasteners do not stand up to the corrosive properties of saltwater environments. It requires special grades of Stainless Steel like 316 Grade A4, duplex Stainless Steel, Monel or Titanium  to serve the purpose.

Stainless Steel Grade AISI 316 A4 is now becoming increasingly popular for a number of applications because of the long life it imparts to the components. It is also know as food grade stainless steel and is very useful in food processing, Pharmaceutical and Chemical industries.

AISI-316 Stainless Steel’s excellent corrosion resistance makes it perfect for both internal and external applications.

Whilst this higher-grade steel is generally more expensive than A2 Stainless Steel fasteners, it can be more cost-effective over a longer period of time, due to it’s corrosion resistance and durability, leading to reduced maintenance costsfewer replacement parts and less down time due to equipment breakdown.  It will also remain clean and bright under atmospheric conditions.

MAGNETISM – It is very important to recognise the fact that all stainless steel fasteners after cold working exhibit magnetism to some extent including SS-316

We have a large range of AISI 316 Screws, Nuts, Washers and other Fasteners.

    Special Stainless Steel 316 Fasteners

Wire Rope Clips SS316 A4 Marine Grade Stainless Steel

Wire Rope Clips are used to secure wire ropes (wire rope termination). The main applications are marine, biogas, elevators and personnel hoists
They are made of Marine Grade Stainless Steel SS-316 A4 which is salt water resistant.
